JOHN WALKER & SONS – ODYSSEY
Lots of love went into our film for John Walker & Son’s ‘Odyssey’, a new (and rather pricey) tipple from North of the Border.
In fact, we worked with LOVE – the Manchester based agency to create the spot for Diageo!
Shot over five days in the Highlands of Scotland, Mike our CD and Photographer John Hooper reunited their creative partnership formed for ‘24 hours, Pavey Ark’ and ‘Island/Universe’ and endured numerous midgey bites to bring back some beautiful time-lapse footage.
Filmed on a Nikon D800 stills camera in HDR using a special motion control rig we purchased especially for the project, which produced beautiful frames packed full of amazing detail.
STORYBOARDS
EARLY STYLEFRAME
We processed these huge frames to something more manageable before 3D mapping the environments and then adding the rudimentary lines. We used a mixture of old-fashioned animation and expressions (clever techy stuff) to achieve the fluid movement across the terrain.
STYLEFRAME DEVELOPMENT
Finally we added the ‘magic’ to the piece when it was composited together and graded.
For the icing on the cake we worked with the very talented Brains & Hunch who put together a great soundtrack and delivered an uplifting piece that brought the spot to life.
